At Bodkins, we like to support our local community and neighbouring small businesses. We are active members of the Thundersley Village Traders Team, and enjoy full involvement in all the village charity events throughout the year. Wool and other craft materials are regularly donated to local schools and charities.
We also support our own chosen charity, Retinitis Pigmentosa – Fighting Blindness and have raised an amount approaching £3000 to date, from our collection tins and regular raffles. Thank you to all our customers for donating!
Bodkins is a designated shop for two new local authority initiatives:
Keep Safe enables any local vulnerable people registered on the scheme to seek help from us – we are on a list of places they can go when they are out and about, should they feel compromised or unsafe in any way, and we will provide reassurance and give them access to our telephone to make a call.
We hold all appropriate details of organisations for vulnerable women that may be seeking some kind of refuge or assistance. This is the J9 initiative. You will find these logos on our shop door and we are proud to support our community in these ways.
